EDSON, AB – April 19, 2024 – The Edson & District Public Library is thrilled to announce that it has received a $10,000 donation from Kelly Gardiner and Craig Corser in support of their Furniture Fundraising Drive.
“Kelly and I are happy to support the renovation and expansion of the Edson and District Public Library. Reading books occupied my two hours daily on the school bus. Book lovers know nothing stimulates the imagination and emotions like the printed word. Kelly has always been an avid reader. It isn't only seniors and "boomers" that read books. Our granddaughter is a voracious reader and loves her books. She is a book enthusiast. Times change but some things don't. The public library remains an important institution in our community.”
“With this amazing donation from Kelly and Craig we have been able to purchase soft seating for the children and teen areas” said Robin Corser, Library Board Chair. The library is currently fundraising to furnish the new spaces in the renovated and expanded building that will include a larger children’s area, dedicated teen zone and quiet room.
“We expect to move back to our former location at 4726 8th Avenue in June. This $10,000 donation is a large step towards our $250,000 goal to purchase shelving and furniture for the renovated library. Thanks to the incredible generosity of Kelly, Craig and so many others in our community we have now reached a fundraising total of $102,000 to date,” said Robin.
The library is currently running an on-line silent auction fundraiser until May 10th through Patterson’s Auctioneering and encourages everyone to check out the many wonderful items that have been donated by local businesses and community members for this auction.
